Vulture III

  • Real Name: Doctor Clifton Shallot
  • Identity: Biology Professor
  • Affiliation: None
  • First Appearance: Amazing Spider-Man #127
  • Status: Incarcerated

Powers & Abilities:

In his bio-mutated form of the Vulture, Professor Shallot possessed the ability to fly, increased strength, and sharp teeth and claws.

Equipment & Weapons:

Professor Shallot combined the Vulture's winged harnass with a university mutation device to mutate himself into the visage of the Vulture.

Origin:

Doctor Shallot was involved in a ESU bio-mutation project involving the wing-outfit of the real Vulture and a mutation device. After the university cancelled Doctor Shallot's pet organic mutation class, he snapped and used the mutation device to transform himself. The transformation caused the wing-outfit to become part of his body as well as giving him increased strength, claws, sharp teeth, and the visage of Adrian Toomes. Attempting to kill his lab assistant before she revealed his secret, this Vulture mistakenly killed her roommate instead. Mary Jane Watson witnessed this murder and became a target herself. After this Vulture went on several rampages around ESU in attempt to destroy Mary Jane and his lab assistant as well as stealing the chemical necessary to reverse the transformation, Spider-Man managed to deduce his identity and defeated him by force-feeding him the formula necessary to reverse the transformation before turning Doctor Shallot over to the authorities.

Appearances:

In a deliberate attempt to pass himself off as the original Vulture, Doctor Shallot murders his lab assistant's roommate, attacks Spider-Man when he shows up to investigate the murder, and goes on a rampage around ESU campus. Amazing Spider-Man #127 ends in a cliff-hanger when the Vulture drops Spider-Man from several hundred feet in the air.

Realizing the original Vulture is still behind bars, Spider-Man takes a close look at the Vulture's seemingly unmotivated attacks around ESU as well as his odd thefts of chemical supplies around town. Connecting the dots, he deduces the identity of this new Vulture after meeting Doctor Shallot in Amazing Spider-Man #128.
