In his introduction, the Vulture commits a series of thefts around Manhattan. When Peter, as Spider-Man, attempts to get some photographs of him, the Vulture stuns him and dumps him in a nearby water tower. After he escapes, Spider-Man creates an anti-magnetic inverter to counter the Vulture's magnetic anti-gravity field. When the Vulture makes his next theft, Spider-Man confronts him and uses the inverter to short out the Vulture's harness. Powerless, he was easily captured by the police.
