Scorpion

  • Real Name: MacDonald "Mac" Gargan
  • Identity: Former Private Investigator, now professional criminal
  • Group Affiliation: One time member of the Masters of Evil
  • First Appearance: Amazing Spider-Man #20
  • Status: Criminal Record

Powers & Abilities:

The Scorpion's strength is slightly greater than that of Spider-Man's. With that, he also possesses superhuman speed, endurance, and agility.

Equipment & Weapons:

The Scorpion wears a lightly armored suit complete with a seven-foot long mechanical tail. The Scorpion's tail has a tip and can be used as a bludgeon or be curled under the Scorpion to propel him through the air. Also, his tail has been modified to fire concussive blasts, tear gas, or even acid.

Origin:

Mac Gargan, a private investigator, was hired by J. Jonah Jameson to tail Peter Parker and find out how Parker got so many pictures of Spider-Man. About the same time, Jonah heard about a scientist named Dr. Stillwell who was researching physiological enhancements. Jameson offered Stillwell and Gargan money allowing Gargan to undergo Stillwell's enhancements. Modeling his test subject on a Scorpion, Stillwell gave Gargan enhanced speed, strength, and endurance. Also, he provided his subject with a Scorpion costume complete with the Scorpion's original tail. Unfortunately, a side-affect of the treatment was the steady deterioration of Gargan's sanity. At this time, the Scorpion's sanity is completely gone. All that remains is a hatred of both Spider-Man and Jameson each for their part in his creation.
