Powers & Abilities:

The Molten Man's gold-colored metallic alloy skin acts as an armor shell covering his body. This same alloy allows him to generate terrific heat and provides him with a level of super-human strength.

Equipment & Weapons:

The Molten Man has used asbestos costumes and masks to disguise his distinctive skin coating and features.

Origin:

Mark Raxton was a lab assistant for Professor Spencer Smythe. Attempting to steal a valuable liquid metal alloy that they had been working on, Mark Raxton accidentally smashed the jar containing the alloy covering himself in the gold liquid. The alloy absorved into his skin transforming him into the Molten Man.

Appearances:

The Molten Man, escaped from the hospital where he was being treated, commits a series of thefts of radioactive isotopes in a plan to cure himself of his metallic skin in Amazing Spider-Man #132. Unfortunately, his first attempt at a cure fails causing a massive explosion which attracts the attention of Spider-Man. After fighting Spider-Man to a draw, Raxton escapes.

Raxton continues his thefts in Amazing Spider-Man #133. His situation becomes desperate as the incredible heat generated by his body begins to dissolve his metallic skin and consume his body. As he and Spider-Man fights on a bridge, his stolen isotopes get tossed over the side into a river. Desperate, he dives in the river after them. His body vanishes into the river under a cloud of steam.
