Born a freak, Willaim Turner killed his parent's by sapping their physical and mental strength. Placed in an orphanage, he used his mental powers to defend himself against bullies while building his physical strength up.

Once he left the orphanage, he made his way to the quiet beachfront town of Far Rockaway and set up house in an abandoned shack on the shore. Once there, he began to feed on the emotions and mental energies of the people who lived in nearby apartment buildings.
