The Grizzly attacks the Daily Bugle in an effort to get his revenge on J. Jonah Jameson. During the course of his rampage, he is confronted by Spider-Man. Unable to harm the Grizzly using brute strength and knowing that bystanders were endangered, Spider-Man feigns unconsciousness in order to get the Grizzly to leave, but not before tagging the Grizzly with a Spider-Tracer.

Tracking the Grizzly to some upscale townhouses, Spider-Man approaches the scene as Peter Parker. However, his Spider-Sense doesn't warn him soon enough to avoid a double-team ambush by the Grizzly and the Jackal. The Jackal attaches a booby-trapped homing device on Peter in an effort to learn Spider-Man's secret identity before releasing him, and later Peter is able to deactivate the device.

Finally, the Grizzly returns to his old gym and begins terrorizing his former co-workers and wrestling partners. Spider-Man catches up with the Grizzly with and instead of duking it out directly, Spider-Man beings tearing the Grizzly's outfit off piece by piece until he is able to leave a de-powered and delusionary Max Markham for the police.
