Harry's therapist, Dr. Bart Hamilton, is briefly introduced in Amazing Spider-Man #169. He is treating Harry after Harry's breakdown and his taking on the role of the Green Goblin. During their sessions, Harry reveals many of the secret of the Green Goblin to Dr. Hamilton including the warehouse where Green Goblin outfits, equipment, n and weapons are kept. Dr. Hamilton also learns of Spider-Man secret identity as well.

Using that knowledge, Dr. Hamilton finds the Green Goblin equipment and spends time practicing riding the Green Goblin's glider and familarizing himself with the equipment. Reveling in the feeling of power, Dr. Hamilton decides to adopt the role of the Green Goblin and use that power to become the city's new crimelord.

His first action is to subdue Harry (trashing the psychiatrist's office in the process) and hold him prisoner.
