As Peter searches for a new place to live, he and Liz Allen tour a tenement in Chelsea managed by one Mamie Muggins and her husband Barney. Peter views a three-room apartment with a kitchen, bathroom with a skylight, and "you haveta sort of lean out" view of the river. Despite being spoiled with Harry's digs, Peter agrees to rent the place.

Mrs Muggins makes periodic appearances of the next several years. Mostly to complain about the noise, or to chase Spider-Man off the roof with a broom. She even brings by a stuffed and mounted sailfish for Peter's housewarming party.
