Jonah JamesonAmazing Spider-Man #2
Jonah devoted an entire issue of NOW magazine to the Vulture after the Vulture's early appearances despite having almost no pictures of the villain. After viewing the issue, Peter realizes that Spider-Man could get close enough to the Vulture to take some pictures. Arming himself with his Uncle Ben's miniature camera, Spider-Man manages to get a few shots of the Vulture in action. Relishing the irony of Spider-Man's biggest detractor paying him for photos, Peter approaches JJJ to sell him the photos under two conditions: First, that Jonah never asks how he gets the photos. Second, that Peter is not credited for the photos. Jonah agrees to the stipulations beginning a long-term associated between Peter and the Daily Bugle. Almost immediately, Jonah would start to rely on Peter to get him all the toughest shots around town, and Peter's pictures of Spider-Man would often feature prominently in JJJ's Spider-Man editorials. Jonah would continue to blast Spider-Man in the Daily Bugle writing editorials demanding the police to arrest Spider-Man, encouraging Spider-Man to take down various villains, and accusing Spider-Man of being or aligning himself with other criminals. Jonah also goes further in hiring or encouraging other individuals to capture Spider-Man. He hires Mysterio to get rid of Spider-Man. When Kraven comes to town intending to hunt Spider-Man, Jonah prints up a front page headline about it. Additionally, Jonah is directly responsible for Mac Gargen becoming the Scorpion. Jonah himself is often the victim or target for crime. The Vulture robs and terrorizes him at the Daily Bugle, and his art gallery showing is robbed by the Circus of Crime. |
