Col. John Jameson(AKA The Man-Wolf)
History:
John Jameson, son of newspaper publisher
J. Jonah Jameson
made his first appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #1
as an NASA astronaut. On his first mission, Jameson's capsule had a faulty guidance module which caused the
spacecraft to spin out of control. Spider-Man, in his second outing as an adventurer, rescued John by snagging the
capsule, with a web line, climbing onto the capsule's surface, and replacing the faulty guidance module.
Jonah Jameson misinterpreted this achievement as a publicity stunt staged by Spider-Man and wrote one of
his first editorials denouncing Spider-Man.
Later, in Amazing Spider-Man #41, John returns. During his space mission, he was infected
by some mysterious "space spores". These space spores gave John super-human strength.
When Spider-Man appears to rob a bank, Jonah convinces his son to play the hero, and John goes after
Spider-Man (Amazing Spider-Man #42). John was bested by Spider-Man in his first encounter, and irrationally,
John goes after Spider-Man in an attempt to kill him. Spider-Man managed to beat John and also nuetralized
the spores in John's body (Amazing Spider-Man #43). When he recovered, John regained his full mental facilities
and no longer had super-strength.
Later, Col. Jameson was in charge of security surrounding a nullifier weapon. Doctor Octopus managed to steal the weapon
(Amazing Spider-Man #55) and turned it on Spider-Man giving him amnesiac (Amazing Spider-Man #56). In his
amnesia, Spider-Man worked with Doctor Octopus for a short while, but when he recovered his facilities, John
vouches for him to the local authorities.
Finally, the next time John appeared he was cursed by a strange moonstone (
Amazing Spider-Man #124).s
The moonstone cause him to become the Man-Wolf during the
full moon. As the Man-Wolf, John begins to stalk his father across New York. Confronted by Spider-Man, the two battle it out, but
Spider-Man ends the battle (and supposedly cures John of the moonstone) but ripping the moonstone out of John's chest
causing him to revert back to human.
