Harry Osborn(AKA The Green Goblin II)
History:
Harry Osborn, son of Norman Osborn, was raised by his demanding, emotionally unavailable, and verbally abusive
father. Putting up with years of belittlement and lack of affection eventually took its toll.
Harry Osborn was originally introduced as a friend of Flash Thompson's at NYU. Put off by Peter's
standoffish-ness at NYU and influenced by Flash's negative attitude, Harry quickly took a dislike to Peter.
He often told Peter off for being a snob and pulled pranks on Peter such as sabotaging his chemistry experiments.
Eventually, Harry and Peter got to be good friends and eventually roommates. For a time, Harry
dated Mary-Jane Watson, but he was always insecure and jealous whenever MJ and Peter spent time together.
Unfortunately, Harry's insecurities drove him to drugs which landing him in the hospital. Once released,
he was clean for a time, but eventually suffered flashbacks and hallucinations. During this time, he followed
Peter as Spider-Man and witnessed his father's supposed death while battling Spider-Man. Following this battle,
he removed the Green Goblin costume from his father and removed any evidence that his father was ever
the Green Goblin.
Believing his father dead, Harry lashed out at his friends driving most of them off and becoming a complete
recluse in the apartment he shared with Peter. Eventually, he stumbled across Peter's costume. Adopting
the Green Goblin persona, he attempted to avenge his father's death against Spider-Man. Eventually
he was defeated and locked up in a mental institution.
Developing amnesia about the event surrounding his father death and afterwards (including Peter's secret
identity), Harry was released from the mental institution. Shortly afterwards, he met Liz Allen at Ned Leeds'
and Betty Brant's wedding, and the pair was engaged shortly thereafter. After a time, the two became married and had a son "Normie". Unfortunately,
Harry couldn't escape the ghosts of his past. He again fell into the Green Goblin persona. Developing a
variation on his father's original Green Goblin strength formula, Harry gave himself the strength and
speed to put him on equal footing with Spider-Man. Unfortunately, his formula was imperfect, and the side-effects
of the formula killed him.
