First Appearance - Amazing Spider-Man #149

Spider-Man's clone (Ben Reilly) makes his initial (unnamed) appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #149. Brainwashed into believing that he was the real Spider-Man, the clone battles Spider-Man to save the clone of Gwen Stacy and Ned Leeds from the Jackal. The Jackal's bomb goes off seemingly killing the clone.

After much soul-searching, Spider-Man disposes of his (seemingly) deceased clone's body down the smokestack of a local incinerator.
