Benjamin "Uncle Ben" Parker
History:Ben and May Parker took in a young Peter Parker after his parents were reported killed in Algeria. Living in suburban Forest Hills, Ben and May had little reason to suspect that Peter was spending his time as the colorful character Spider-Man. After Spider-Man allowed a thief to escape from a television studio, the same thief broke into the Parker's home. Furious, Ben Parker confronted the burglar, but the burglar shot him and fled. Mortally wounded, Ben Parker died in his wife's arms. As Spider-Man, Peter later captured the burglar and realized, to his horror, that he was the same thief that fled the televsion studio. Peter believed that if he had captured the burglar at the studio, Uncle Ben would still be alive. Ben's death change Peter's attitudes toward his spider-powers. Realizing he could have prevented this tragedy, Peter adopted the mantra "With great power comes great responsibility". His guilt over Ben's death has been the driving force behind his career as Spider-Man. Uncle Ben's Timeline |
